Superintendent Contract Negotiations

RS2 Education has represented over 100 Superintendents in the  contract development and negotiation process over the last five years.  Having Rob or Randy represent the Superintendent is critical in maintaining positive relationships with the board and normally culminates in an agreement that is fair and reasonable for the District and at the same time more lucrative than the Superintendent could obtain on their own.

Why use RS2 in Superintendent Contract Negotiations?

  • In most cases, RS2 becomes the representative of the Superintendent in contract discussions with the Board
  • RS2 creates a buffer between the Board and Superintendent to help maintain relationships while advocating for the best contract possible
  • RS2 uses the most comprehensive Superintendent contract comparisons ever collected in Oregon to help encourage boards to set financial expectations
  • Most Superintendents are reluctant to advocate strongly for themselves
  • RS2 will draw from extensive contract language comparisons to help create language that is fair and reasonable for the Superintendent and District

RS2 has used past experience and knowledge of salary/benefits/contract language to negotiate creative agreements, help districts retain quality leadership, and improve Superintendent job satisfaction.

Cost

The Base fee for RS2 to represent the Superintendent in negotiations is $1,250, which provides up to 8 hours of support.  In about 80% of negotiations, this is enough to complete the contract.  In cases where a negotiation takes more than 8 hours, additional time is charged at $150 per hour.
